Composite Impulse develops project-specific fibre-reinforced composite heat shield systems for operating temperatures of up to 1,000 °C. This enables rapidly available prototypes and series-ready solutions — built on over 30 years’ experience from the highest motorsport classes and transferred to the aerospace and industrial sectors.

Our self-developed systems are branded CIVO and can be freely combined with one another. Where required, we also process commercially available resin systems and fibres — and combine these, for example, with our Hiflecs coatings.

CIVO makes heat protection project specific.
Our self-developed CIVO heat shield system has been proving itself in Formula 1 for decades. The design combines high temperature resistance, reflective properties and low weight with a precise integration into tight spaces.
Over 1,000 backplates per year demonstrate our series-production expertise.
On the brake system of a former LMP1 vehicle, a backplate coated with CIVO HIFLECS can be seen directly on the brake disc.
We supply over 1,000 backplates like this one every year. For each customer, the fibre, matrix, laminate layup, and manufacturing process are precisely defined. This fine-tuning of all parameters is the result of the expertise we have built up over many years.
What works in motorsport can be applied to other high-temperature applications.
Whether for exhaust systems, turbochargers, brakes or sidepods, CIVO heat shield systems are developed for applications where several requirements usually have to be met simultaneously — such as insulation, reflection, low weight, corrosion resistance and the protection of adjacent components.
